But why we must use this ingredient to produce an identification device when we know it increases the price compared to P.P or plastic row material? . Performance in Harsh Environments
Polyurethane made ear tags are very resistant to temperature extremes (-40c to +60c), meaning harsh environmental conditions and many chemicals will not cause material degradation. Also it's abrasion and impact resistance which is very normal in farm condition especially for young animals.

Tear Resistance
Polyurethanes possess high tear resistance along with high tensile properties. if the ear tag is damaged accidentally, there is no problem for it and no need to be replaced. Being very flexible makes the Polyurethanes a good selection for producing ear tags.

Resistance to Water, Urine, Manure, Chemicals
Polyurethane's material properties will remain stable (with minimal swelling) in water /Urine /Manure and chemical substances which are used in farm for washing and disinfection. Polyurethane ear tag has a high load capacity in both tension and compression. This kinds of ear tags may undergo a change in shape under a heavy load, but will return to its original shape once the load is removed with little compression set in the material when designed properly for a given application.

Mold, Mildew & Fungus Resistance
Most polyether based polyurethanes do not support fungal / mold / mildew growth and are therefore highly suitable for tropical environments and FDA applications. Special additives can also be added to reduce this in polyester materials as well. As a conclusion, wound from Polyurethane tag installation on ear heals faster than plastic type ear tag.

Color Ranges
Varying color pigments can be added to polyurethane in the manufacturing process. Ultraviolet shielding can be incorporated into the pigment to provide better color stability in outdoor applications. So the producer can have colorful tags for different usage.
